Known as the "Living with Pokémon Tradition," Azalea Town is located in the southern part of the Johto region. It is famous for its charcoal production, Slowpoke population, and the legendary craftsmanship of Kurt.
Buildings
Azalea Town is a small, culturally rich community with several unique landmarks:
- Kurt's House: Home to the master Poké Ball smith. Kurt can forge unique Poké Balls from Apricorns found throughout Johto.
- Slowpoke Well: A local landmark and cave located just east of the town. It is a sanctuary for the town's beloved Slowpoke.
- Pokémon Center & Poké Mart: Essential facilities for trainers preparing to enter the Ilex Forest or the Slowpoke Well.
Connecting Routes
Azalea Town serves as a vital transit point between the rugged mountains and the deep forests of Johto:
- Route 33: Located to the east, this short, rainy route connects the town to Union Cave. It is a frequent spot for trainers to find Hoppip and Spearow.
- Ilex Forest: Located to the west, this dense, mysterious forest must be navigated to reach Route 34 and Goldenrod City.
Gym
The Azalea Gym is the second official Gym of the Johto League.
- Type Specialty: Bug
- The Challenge: The Gym features a transport system involving Spinarak-shaped carts on webs. You must flip switches to change the pathing.
- The Catch: The Gym is temporarily blocked until the local disturbances are resolved.
Gym Leader
Bugsy, the "Walking Bug Pokémon Encyclopedia," is a researcher whose knowledge of Bug-types is unparalleled.
