Xurkitree, the Glowing Pokémon, is an Ultra Beast that has appeared under mysterious circumstances on Tinsel Island. Resembling a mass of electrical wires, it pulses with a holiday glow, though the sheer voltage it emits is enough to short-circuit any trainer who underestimates its festive appearance.

Boss Encounter: Xurkitree

This encounter features a "Special Setup Sweeper" with a lethal twist. Xurkitree uses its high Special Attack and access to Spore to immobilize opponents, giving it free turns to boost its power to catastrophic levels.

Battle Strategy

  • The Spore Trap: Unlike most Electric-types, this Xurkitree has access to Spore, a 100% accurate sleep move. It will likely lead with this to incapacitate your Pokémon. Bringing a Pokémon with the **Insomnia**, **Vital Spirit**, or **Overcoat** ability is almost mandatory to avoid being a sitting duck.
  • Nasty Plot Snowball: Once your Pokémon is asleep, Xurkitree will use Nasty Plot to double its already massive Special Attack. After just one boost, its attacks become nearly impossible to survive.
  • Bolt-Beam Coverage: The combination of Thunderbolt and Blizzard provides nearly perfect coverage, hitting almost every Pokémon in the game for at least neutral damage. Ground-types are not safe due to Blizzard.
  • Passive Sustain: Its Leftovers provide constant healing, making it harder to chip away at its HP while you are struggling to wake up.
  • Counterplay: A fast **Taunt** user can stop both Spore and Nasty Plot. Alternatively, a Pokémon with **Sap Sipper** is immune to Spore and can take the opportunity to retaliate, though it must still be wary of Blizzard.
