Battle Strategy

  • Acrobatics Synergy: Talonflame starts the battle with a Sitrus Berry. Once it takes enough damage (including recoil from Flare Blitz) to consume the berry and heal, the power of its Acrobatics will double from 55 to 110 base power.
  • Extreme Recoil: Flare Blitz is a massive Fire-type STAB move, but it deals significant recoil damage to Talonflame. Pairing this with the boss's high speed makes it a "suicide lead" style encounter that can deal massive damage before going down.
  • Evasive Maneuvers: Talonflame may use Fly to avoid damage for a turn. This can be used to stall out your own positive status effects or field conditions like Tailwind or Reflect.
  • Steel Coverage: **Steel Wing** is present to hit Rock-type counters that would otherwise resist its primary STAB moves. However, a bulky Water or Electric-type is generally safe to switch in.
