The Ruins of Alph are an ancient structure located southwest of Violet City. The site is famous for its mysterious stone panels and the presence of the enigmatic Pokémon, Unown. Researchers from all over Johto visit to study the connection between the ruins and the alphabet.

Puzzle Chambers

Hidden throughout the ruins are several chambers featuring sliding tile puzzles of ancient Pokémon.

• Unlocking Unown: After completing a puzzle, a trapdoor opens into the main hall below, allowing specific forms of Unown to begin appearing in the wild encounters.

Research Center

A small building located near the entrance where scientists study the patterns found within the ruins. Speaking to the researchers here can provide the player with the Unown Report.
