Contribution by Dr. Smug

The Hidden Village is a side area that is a mostly faithful recreation of Episode 10 of the Indigo League anime, "Bulbasaur and the Hidden Village." Unlike the anime, however, you won't have Brock or Misty tagging along for this adventure!

How To Access

To access the Hidden Village, you must first complete the Kanto League. Once achieved, return to Vermilion City and head north to Route 6. You will find the entrance to the Hidden Village located on the eastern side of the route.

Quest Guide

Bulbasaur and The Hidden Village Quest

You’ve walked into a place you really should not be in and you’re about to do some insanely idiotic stuff.

Vs. Oddish

You encounter an injured Oddish who is doing nothing wrong and decide to fight it, because you’re a huge jerk.

Boss Battle Level
Oddish 55

Vs. Bulbasaur (Round 1)

Yep, you definitely had this coming for messing with that poor Oddish. Now you have to face the protector of this place, a Bulbasaur who wants you GONE.

Boss Battle Level
Bulbasaur 100

Vs. Bulbasaur (Round 2)

After defeating the guardian of this place, it puts your Pokemon to sleep in an attempt to prevent you from causing any more damage than you already have, but we all know you’re not gonna just leave. So then you decide to cross the bridge to see what’s on the other side of it, because not only are you a jerk, but you’re nosy too.

Comuppence hits you again, as the bridge turns out to be a trap set by the kindhearted caretaker of this place, Melanie, with you learning this place is called the Hidden Village, that it's a Pokemon Sanctuary, and makes you promise not to fight here anymore. Yeah, about that… Anyway, Melanie rightfully berates you for hurting that poor Oddish and you actually decide to apologize for your rash actions. WHAT A CONCEPT! After apologizing and the Oddish forgiving you for some reason, Bulbasaur, rightfully still wanting you far away from the Hidden Village, attacks you again.

Boss Battle Level
Bulbasaur 100

Vs. Team Rocket Trio

Before you woke up to meet Melanie, it turns out you weren’t the only one here to cause trouble, as the Team Rocket Trio (Jessie, James, and Meowth) has come to steal all of the Pokemon from the Hidden Village. As the lesser of two evils, you need to put a stop to this—think of this as a redemption arc for the trouble you caused. Bulbasaur also assists you in this battle (off-screen, of course).

Boss Battle: Team Rocket Trio

  • Weezing (Level 100)
  • Arbok (Level 100)
  • Lickitung (Level 100)
  • Victreebel (Level 100)
  • Wobbuffet (Level 100)
  • Meowth (Level 100)

Vs. Bulbasaur (Round 3/Final Battle)

After finishing off the Rocket Trio and sending them blasting off again, Melanie wants Bulbasaur to leave the Hidden Village and go with you? Seems like an insanely bad idea, but it’s how the actual episode went, so I guess we’re just rolling with it.

Boss Battle Level
Bulbasaur 100

Congratulations! You have now completed the quest and received a Bulbasaur at Level 100! If you wish to evolve it, you can use Common Candies to lower its level and achieve its higher stages, Ivysaur and Venusaur. Thankfully, you can evolve this Bulbasaur, unlike the one from the actual anime.

Hidden Village Farm

By completing this mission, you have also gained access to a farm area behind Melanie’s house! For now, all you can do is collect Apricorns, but more is sure to be added in a later update.
