Viridian City
Viridian City is a small city located in western Kanto. It is the first major city the player reaches after leaving Pallet Town and traversing Route 1.
Geography
Viridian City serves as a hub connecting several major routes.
- North: The exit leads to Route 2 (towards Viridian Forest).
- South: The entrance from Route 1.
- East: The exit leads to Route 22 (towards the Pokémon League Gate).

There are 7 buildings located within Viridian City.
Public Services
- Pokémon Center:
- Upstairs: Standard Union Room/Connectivity features.
- Downstairs (Training): A special area where players can battle Nurse Joy for XP grinding.
- Viridian Bank: A facility with two rooms. It provides a safe place to store currency.
- Poké Mart: A shop where players can purchase standard supplies like Poké Balls and Potions.
Educational & Residential
- The Classroom: An educational facility for beginning trainers.
- Conspiracy Theorist's House: A residential building home to an NPC known for their wild theories.
Shops & Gyms
- Clothing Store: Allows the player to purchase cosmetic items to customize their avatar.
- Viridian City Gym: The official Pokémon Gym of the city.
- Note: The Gym is currently locked and cannot be challenged until late in the game progress.
Special Mechanics

XP Grinding (Nurse Joy)
In the downstairs area of the Pokémon Center, players can challenge Nurse Joy to a battle. This feature is designed specifically for XP Grinding, allowing players to level up their team efficiently without roaming for wild Pokémon.
Banking System
The Viridian Bank allows players to deposit their Pokédollars.
- Function: Money deposited in the bank is safe from loss.
- Benefit: If the player loses a trainer battle (black out), the money stored in the bank will not be deducted or stolen.
