A Glimpse of Mew is a side quest located in the Kanto region. It introduces the player to the mysterious Deep Forest and offers a rare early-game encounter with a Mythical Pokémon.
Synopsis
After receiving their starter Pokémon and Pokedex from Professor Oak in Pallet Town, the player notices two Team Rocket Grunts acting suspiciously. The duo is seen sprinting toward the outskirts of town, heading into the Deep Forest.
The player must track them into the woods, where the Grunts will confront and battle the player for interfering with their mission. After defeating the Grunts, the player gains full access to explore the forest, leading to a fateful encounter with the Mythical Pokémon, Mew.
Walkthrough
- Triggering the Quest: Complete the introductory sequence in Pallet Town by obtaining your starter and the Pokedex. As you exit the lab, a cutscene triggers showing two Rocket Grunts fleeing toward the forest.
- The Pursuit: Follow the Grunts north-west of Pallet Town into the entrance of the Deep Forest.
- The Confrontation: Upon entering the forest, the Grunts will stop the player. You must defeat both in back-to-back battles.
- The Discovery: Once the Grunts are defeated, they will flee deeper into the woods or retreat. You are now free to explore the Deep Forest and catch the Pokémon residing there.
- The Encounter: Locate Mew in a hidden clearing within the forest. Approaching it triggers a Boss Battle.
- Conclusion: The quest is completed regardless of the battle's outcome (win or lose). Mew will vanish after the fight, leaving behind a small reward.
