# Vs Zubat & Vulpix: Switch to your Water-type starter or Pikachu.

Alternative Path: You can pick Squirtle and catch an Oddish in the forest for a similar strategy, but Bulbasaur remains the optimal choice for Kanto.

Battle Tactics
Strategy: Lowering the Anchor
Misty's Gyarados is a significant physical threat due to Dragon Dance. This method focuses on neutering its Attack stat:
# Vs Psyduck & Goldeen: Lead with your Grass-type. Use Sleep Powder + Grass moves on Psyduck immediately to prevent Rain Dance. These two should not cause much trouble.
# **Preparation:** Catch a Yamper at Nugget Bridge and evolve it into Boltund. Capture the remaining team members from Routes 4, 5, and 6, ensuring they have the Intimidate ability.
# Vs Gyarados: This is a major threat. Cycle your Ekans and Luxio to stack Intimidate drops, lowering its Attack by at least 2 stages.
# **The Cycle:** When Misty sends out Gyarados, lead with an Intimidate user. Immediately switch to your second Intimidate user, then your third.

# **The Result:** Each switch triggers a -1 Attack drop on Gyarados. By cycling through your team, you can stack these drops to -6, making Gyarados's physical moves nearly harmless while your Boltund cleans up the rest of her team.
** Once its Attack is low, inflict Status (Paralysis or Poison).
</div></div>
** Finish it off with an Electric-type (Pikachu is safe here once Gyarados is weakened).
</div></div>

# Vs Starmie: Use Boltund. Its Electric move might not OHKO, but the recoil from Starmie's Life Orb combined with your damage will faint it eventually.

# This is a fairly easy gym compared to others. You can have at least 2 electric-immune mons, so your only problem might be Magnemite.
# You can deal with it in a lot of ways, but simple solutions are using Poison-type mon and using multi-attack moves like Fury Swipes.
# So just use Lanturn, and you will have 0 problem.

* You need Poison, Fire, Flying, Bug Pokemon generally. At this point, you have a lot of options for your Pokémon, and most of them are gonna be fully evolved.
Recommended Teams
* It might feel harder than previous gyms because her team has EV investment, but you can see how they are invested in here, and you can also EV train your mons.
<div class="mw-collapsible mw-collapsed" style="border:1px solid #F85888; margin-top:5px;">
* There are a lot of Pokémon you can use, but the best mons will be Venusaur, Gyarados, Annihilape, and Scyther. Scyther is obtainable in the Game Corner.

Blaine's Team
* Gyarados will help you deal with Ceruledge and also has the potential to sweep, because it will have Ice Fang and Dragon Dance at this point in the game.
{| class="wikitable" style="width:100%; text-align:center;"
* Annihilape is a great way to shut down Cradily.

Strategy: Lowering the Anchor

Misty's Gyarados is a significant physical threat due to Dragon Dance. This method focuses on neutering its Attack stat:

 1. **Preparation:** Catch a Yamper at Nugget Bridge and evolve it into Boltund. Capture the remaining team members from Routes 4, 5, and 6, ensuring they have the Intimidate ability.
 2. **The Cycle:** When Misty sends out Gyarados, lead with an Intimidate user. Immediately switch to your second Intimidate user, then your third.
 3. **The Result:** Each switch triggers a -1 Attack drop on Gyarados. By cycling through your team, you can stack these drops to -6, making Gyarados's physical moves nearly harmless while your Boltund cleans up the rest of her team.
