Parcel for Professor Oak is a key story quest in the Kanto region. It involves traveling to the neighboring Viridian City to retrieve a custom delivery intended for Professor Oak's research.
Walkthrough
The Mailman's Request
As the player attempts to leave **Pallet Town** via Route 1, they are intercepted by the local **Mailman**. He informs the player that a special parcel addressed to **Professor Oak** has arrived at the Viridian City Poké Mart. Since the Mailman is busy with other deliveries in town, he asks the player to fetch the package.
Journey to Viridian City
The player must travel north through **Route 1** to reach **Viridian City**. Upon entering the Poké Mart, the clerk will recognize the player as being from Pallet Town and hand over **Oak's Parcel**.
Delivering the Goods
With the parcel in hand, the player must return to the Pokémon Research Lab in Pallet Town. Delivering the package to Professor Oak triggers a cutscene where he explains the contents—a new piece of technology designed to record data on Pokémon.
Quest Rewards
Professor Oak is so impressed with the player's initiative that he provides them with essential tools for their journey across the region.
- **Poké Dex:** A high-tech encyclopedia that automatically records data on every Pokémon species seen or caught.
- **Poké Balls:** A set of 5 standard Poké Balls to begin catching wild Pokémon.
